Hellboy: Low Poly Hand Painting

Hello! This is my first blog post so super nervous about showing my process here haha. Learning a lot all over again after graduating college I feel - but absolutely excited learning new things for myself. Lots of this is for personal development and trying to strengthen my 3D portfolio works.

Below is how my final (for now) high poly sculpt in Zbrush of HB turned out:

  


  


  


Was super happy with the results. The hair definitely needs more attention but I think I'll get going with a hair card route. Unsure yet.

Here was then my retopo process - I ended up with about 2K for the bust.


  



The retopology was done in Maya as well as it's UV Unwrap - THEN, I brought it into Substance Painter to bake and was fairly happy with the results.

Definitely needed some tinkering but overall satisfied.

Recently downloaded the 30 day trial 3D Coat has to offer and wow do I love it!! The fact you can go into PSD with ease back and forth is incredible. Here is the progress so far and will hopefully update again soon! 



Thanks for reading if ya did!! Will be adding more variation of reds and more detail as well as adding his cigarette and hair later on. Aiming for effects on his ashes of the cigarette and having glowing yellow eyes.
